Harry Potter

Crochet – My First Self-Designed Ami

About two years ago I taught myself crochet using a crochet magazine and a series of YouTube tutorials. I started off (quite ambitiously) with a bag, but soon moved into 3D crochet. I was inspired by the book Creepy Cute Crochet and made a series of vampires and other creepiest for our school fete. Then I moved on to other types of crochet for a while.

Then, I jumped back into Amigurumi. At the time, I couldn’t find the copy of the book with its basic body and head shape. I would have to recreate the shape on my own.

Now, I have a slight obsession with Harry Potter. So it seemed fitting that the first Amigurumi I would design myself would be a little Harry Potter. I went with the armless and legless style which was similar to the vampires, but I lengthened the body out and made the head rounder. Then it was a matter of adding hair (thank goodness Harry has messy hair), a face and glasses and a scarf.

Since then, I’ve made a bunch of other Amigurumi, even stretching out to crocheting legs and arms for a Sue Sylvester, a Kaylee from Firefly and a Blaine Anderson. But I’ll always have a soft spot for the first little Harry Potter 🙂
